I always say that if you’re having a bad day in Yellowstone, go to the Soda Butte Picnic Area and amuse yourself with the uinta ground squirrels. Yes, they’re squirrels, but they have such character. Jill and I spent one dark, rainy afternoon with these little critters and if I could, I’d have a gallery set up just around this sequence. The image featured above – a uinta just peaking out from its hole – has to be a favourite of mine.
