After watching the iconic grizzly bear Raspberry play hard-to-get with a local boar, Jill and I watched her grub near Teton Overlook before she disappeared into the trees. Refusing to quit, I suggested we move a little further east in the hopes of one more look at the bear. I picked a spot that looked to have a healthy animal trail leading to the road. Bears are, if anything, creatures who always choose the path of least resistance. Sure enough, after a few minutes, Raspberry appeared and while I was well set up for her walk through the forest, I quickly had too much glass when she moved off the trail and came right up by the front of the car. Of course, I should add, we were well inside of the car shooting, but it was an exceptional experience, if not a great shot (why didn’t I go vertical!). Somewhere, a ranger has a photo of me taking this photo…and Jill looking the other direction, not realizing Raspberry was beside the car!
