When I think of Canada, I think of this photograph. The scene – found on Highway 16 east of the Jasper townsite – looks north, across the east end of Jasper Lake (which is really just a wide section of the Athabasca River) to Coronach Mountain and beyond. To my eyes, it symbolizes the wild, the north and everything synonymous with my home and native land. Every year, I visit this spot multiple times and never tire of the changing light, nor the unquantifiable beauty of this northern landscape.
