Moose are cool, but I admit, I don’t get the obsessive love many people have for the odd-looking ungulates. But my wife gets it and often demands that we dedicate a few hours every week to searching for them – especially when it means a possible food stop at the iconic Pahaska Teepee. (What, Jill, you want something other than meal bars while we work?!) And in 2015, for the first time in years, we stumbled upon not one, but two sets of moose cows, each with one calf. And of course, when they hit the water for a drink, I was all in, being a sucker for animals in the water. In fact, thanks to Jill, this unexpected sight was probably one of my favourite moose encounters of all time, she just shouldn’t expect more time dedicated to finding these animals…or finding real food.
