I haven’t been back to the Yukon or Alaska since I was a small child, but my lasting memory of the vast, wild north was a scene similar to this one. Beautiful skies. Specific types of trees. Rugged, far-off peaks. And water. Everywhere. Jasper Lake is one of my favourite spots in Jasper and this specific location is where a small creek empties into the Athabasca (Jasper lake is essentially a wide section of the river) from up the valley by Roche Miette. Every year, I return to this spot and find it immensely peaceful, likely because it brings back so many wonderful memories of visiting the north with my family.
