Top 12 Most Memorable Encounters
Coming off a spectacularly lucky (photographically) year, 2017 was a no good, awful, downright miserable stretch of bad luck. Though we spent more time in the field than ever, we captured content only about 10% of the time we set out to look for wildlife. Yet for all the bad luck, we had some incredible moments – and, based on our last two forays into the Rockies, our luck also seems to be changing. Here’s hoping 2018 is the best year yet.
Honourable Mention: Our Top Photography Shoot
In April, we had the chance to visit one of our favourite Canadian parks – Grasslands. This incredible ecosystem is home to incredible diversity of life and many endangered species – and though we saw many critters, it was the time we spent with two bull bison that provided for our best shoot of 2017. I doubt an hour has ever produced more perfect images for us than the one we spent with the bison as the sun set on a perfect Saskatchewan day. To snag three images for our Top 30 of all time is a record and from a purely photographic perspective, it was a day that will be hard to beat.
