When Jill wanted to quit early one evening to have a campfire, I readily agreed, knowing that spending time at our campsite meant having a shot at seeing a wood frog. This was my first sighting – and image – of the amphibian, which jumps incredibly quickly and blends in with its surroundings very well. I think my favourite fact about this species is that it freezes solid in the winter like an ice cube and then thaws to resume life in the spring. What a frog.
