Funny story. I usually see geese everyday of my life – in Toronto or in Yellowstone – and I will always pass up an opportunity to photograph them in the Rockies for fear of missing a bear. But after Jill and I spent one spring with a family of geese in Toronto’s High Park, I found myself increasingly willing to take a pause for the goose cause. And when this family cast off from the shore of Yellowstone’s Sedge Bay, I spent half an hour trying to capture the perfect shot. Of course, while I was busy photographing these geese, our friends Sandy Sisti, Steve Hinch and Terrance Jackson were enjoying an intimate sighting of the grizzly bear Raspberry and her two cubs of the year. Great, great decision.
